With 2023 coming to a close, we want to remind you about some important plan information that can help you make the most of your benefits. Our warmest wishes for happiness and health this festive season.
Sincerely,
Your Board of Trustees
• Travelling over the holidays?
Make sure to bring your benefits card with you!
On the back of your card, you’ll find a phone number to call if you
or your dependent experiences a medical emergency while you’re
outside of Canada.
Learn more about your emergency travel medical benefits.
• Tax slips are coming your way.
Our plan administrator, Cowan, will send you a T4A in February that
you’ll need to include with your 2023 tax return. Your T4A reports
your taxable benefit for Life Insurance and Accidental Death &
Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance, since the premiums for these
benefits are paid by ONE-T.
New this year: The federal government recently introduced the
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to help lower dental costs for
families that do not have dental coverage through a benefits plan
and who earn less than $90,000 per year. Employers and plan
providers – like ONE-T – must now provide you with a tax slip each
year that states if you’re eligible for dental benefits through another
program (i.e., through the ONE-T benefits plan).
• Change of address?
If you moved in 2023, please inform your school board or
participating employer before the end of 2023. This way, we can
make sure Cowan’s system is up-to-date and that you will continue
to receive important mail – like your T4A slip – on time.
